ROCHESTER CASTLE CONCERTS ANNOUNCE HEADLINERS NILE RODGERS AND CHIC & SOFT CELL FOR SUMMER 2023
SOFT CELL
Back for another year of four magnificent nights of music in Rochester Castle ’ s grounds , AGMP have announced that Nile Rodgers and Chic will be the headline act for 6 July and Soft Cell will take to the stage on 7 July 2023 .
Amplifying his legacy as a multi-Grammy-winning composer , producer , arranger , and guitarist , cofounder of CHIC and chairman of the Songwriters ’ Hall of Fame , Rodgers pioneered a musical language that generated chart-topping hits like “ Le Freak ,” ( the biggest-selling single in the history of Atlantic
Records ) and sparked the advent of hip-hop with “ Good Times ”. His unforgettable live performances with CHIC have been included in “ festival best performances ” at both Glastonbury and Coachella resulting in a BBC Music Awards nomination for “ Best Live Performance ”, and the LA Times stating , “ Nile Rodgers influence stretches all over Coachella , beaming the sound of a better future ”.
Formed of singer Marc Almond and instrumentalist Dave Ball , Soft Cell ’ s spectacular sold-out show in 2018 was meant to be their final emotional goodbye ,
drawing a line under under a rollercoaster ride that had seen Soft Cell secure three Top Ten albums and six Top Ten singles , including 1981 ’ s allconquering “ Tainted Love ”. Such was the response to that gig that the final adieu turned out to be the start of a new dawn , with their new album now showcased alongside classic hits penned since their formation back in 1977 .
