Spring is here and it ’ s time to start planning and preparing for a beautiful summer display in your garden .
Our Plant area carries a vast range of British and locally grown trees , shrubs , Herbaceous , Climbers , Roses , Alpines , large specimen plants and seasonal bedding plants .
Our friendly staff are on hand for any help and advise you may need from planting a new border to starting a vegetable bed .
Jobs in the Garden this March
1 ) Plant shallots , Onion sets , early potatoes and summer flowering bulbs .
2 ) Dig in green manure grown over winter . Do this while the stems are still soft .
3 ) Mow your lawn . Chose a dry day and set blades higher than usual .
4 ) Get rid of slimy patches on patio paving and pathways .
5 ) Plan any new border planting schemes .
6 ) Move any deciduous trees or shrubs if the soil isn ’ t waterlogged or frozen .
7 ) Prune and feed your Roses now to encourage strong new growth .
8 ) Cut autumn fruiting raspberry canes to the ground to encourage new canes for next autumn . 9 ) Feed shrubs , Roses and hedges . 10 ) Install water butts for the season ahead . 11 ) Prune early flowering clematis once the flowers have finished .
