WEDDINGS
opera gloves ( yes , really !), dresses for 2023 are all about making an impact and taking centre stage . This trend isn ’ t about subtlety , so don ’ t be afraid to play around with textures , colours , patterns and embellishments .
MISMATCHED BRIDESMAIDS
Gone are the days when your bridal party wore matching dresses , shoes and accessories . Now , the trend is all about bridesmaids feeling confident in their own style - in a variety of shades and shapes to suit .
While some brides might pick multiple colours for their bridal party ( which works well if you ’ ve got a big group ), if you ’ re working with a smaller selection , pick one base colour but then vary the shade for each maid . Burnt orange was a popular choice last year and looks set to be big again for 2023 - and it ’ s a colour that works really well with this mismatched trend .
GROUP GAMES
Photobooths , lawn games and firework displays are all amazingly fun wedding entertainment options , but this year it ’ s time to get the whole gang together for some group participation . Whether it ’ s karaoke , bingo , a pub-style quiz or old fashioned children ’ s party games ( musical chairs , anyone ?) entertainment at weddings is now about getting everyone involved and keeping the party going long after the last dance .
GRAZING TABLES
For 2023 , the wedding breakfast has got a grown up , laid-back twist . Instead of seeing three-course meals or barbecue buffets , the major dining trend for the year ahead is the grazing table . Aesthetically pleasing and equally delicious , this dining choice means plentiful options for you and your guests - why choose between meat and fish or style of potato when you can have them all , with cherries on top if you so wish ?
GUEST SPEECHES
Customary in Scandinavian weddings , the guest speech is starting to become a popular choice for UK weddings , too . Many couples are opting to break the tradition of having the three speeches from the best man , groom and father of the bride , and are instead handing guests the mic to hear them regale their tales or bestow their best wishes on the newlyweds .
This is a fun option for mixing up the conventional speech section of a wedding , and could be full of surprises , too !
