MCARTHURGLEN DESIGNER OUTLET ANNOUNCE BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION AS CHARITY OF THE YEAR 2023
McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Ashford has named the British Heart Foundation ( BHF ) as its charity partner for 2023 . Over the next 12 months , the centre will support the charity with a range of fundraising activities , with money raised helping the BHF fund vital research into heart and circulatory diseases like heart attacks , strokes and vascular dementia , and the risk factors that cause them , such as diabetes and high blood pressure .
Rebecca Honey , BHF fundraising manager , said : “ We are honored that McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Ashford have chosen to support our work and help fund the scientific breakthroughs of tomorrow . It is only thanks to the generous support of companies like this that we can keep research going and discover the treatments and cures of the future .”
GODINTON HOUSE ANNOUNCES FOUR OPEN DATES FOR NATIONAL GARDEN SCHEME
Godinton House & Gardens , Ashford , has announced its continued support of the National Garden Scheme ( NGS ) with four new dates for opening in 2023 .
Having opened its gates for the ( NGS ) for almost seven decades , helping to raise money for the UK ’ s nursing and health charities , the gardens will be open on Sundays 19 March and 14 May and Fridays 16 June and 22 September .
Head gardener Lou Nicholls said : “ The NGS is a charity that everyone at Godinton House & Gardens holds close to their hearts and we look forward to supporting its important work by welcoming our local community to the gardens .
Members of the gardening team will be sharing their knowledge of this beautiful historic garden and 2023 promises to be a special year as we have planted 8,000 spring bulbs as well as being busy pruning and propagating .”
Entry costs £ 8 for an adult and is free for children . Advance online booking is recommended .
PORT OF DOVER EMPLOYEES GIVE 350 HOURS TO LOCAL COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERING IN 2022
The port ’ s new Employee Volunteering Scheme has supported 12 organisations with 53 employees giving 350 hours volunteering support in less than a year since its launch in March 2022 .
The scheme invites staff members to devote one working day per year to a local community cause via a practical or skills-based project . Those supported so far include homeless charities , elderly community groups , local schools , scouts and beaver groups , environmental cleaning projects and wildlife conservation .
Jenny Beacon , CSR and community executive at the Port of Dover said : “ Our colleagues have had a lot of fun getting out in the field to see firsthand the amazing work these organisations do to support local people . Their volunteering support has cleaned local beaches and rivers , revamped outdoor learning hubs for school children and created new gardens and spaces for key community groups .
As the largest employment site in the area , our community work is an essential part of the port ’ s day-to-day operations . It ’ s really inspiring to see how many employees are determined to play their part in helping make Dover an ideal place to visit , live and work . We look forward to creating more volunteering memories in 2023 .”
