AMAZON DARTFORD SUPPORTS LOCAL CHILDREN ’ S HOSPICE CHARITY
The Amazon team at the fulfilment centre in Dartford has made a £ 1,000 donation to local hospice care charity ellenor , the provider of all-encompassing hospice care for both adults and children living in North Kent and Bexley .
Acknowledging the donation , which could help provide a weekly ellenor nurse visit to a family for three months , Amazon Dartford general manager , Priyanka Bernard , said : “ It ’ s fantastic to support ellenor and we hope the donation provides a boost to the staff and volunteers who do so much for the children in our community .” Jemma Kemp , senior supporter engagement officer at ellenor added : “ We are pleased to receive this donation from Amazon Dartford and are looking forward to building our relationship with the team there . This support will go a long way to give the children in our care exactly what they need .”

LOCAL MILKMAN CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF SERVING THE KENT COMMUNITY
Come rain or shine , Malcolm Arnold has been a lifeline to the community during his time as a milkman – from delivering vital groceries during COVID-19 lockdowns , to helping his customers with gardening jobs , changing car tyres , and putting the bins out when customers have forgotten .
Currently delivering over 2,000 pints of milk a week in iconic one-pint glass bottles , Malcolm has seen a huge rise in customer numbers during his years as a milkman , as more people turn to the convenient , quality service that helps them live more sustainably . Malcolm currently completes around 1,000 deliveries a week , travelling roughly 100 miles a day to do so through the areas of Ashford , Lydd , Camber , Rye , Winchelsea and Beckley . 66-year-old Malcolm said : “ It makes me incredibly proud to be hitting this milestone . When I went on my very first round back in 1972 , never did I think the service would be where it is today . Being a milkman has always been about serving the community and playing an important role in helping people . It ' s one I look forward to continuing while also helping to inspire the next generation of milkmen and milkwomen !”
ARTS COUNCIL ENGLAND FUNDING SUCCESS FOR KENT-MEDWAY MUSEUM PARTNERSHIP
The Kent and Medway Museum Partnership has once again been awarded Arts Council England funding as a National Portfolio Organisation ( NPO ). The museum consortium , led by Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust , with three partners : Canterbury Museums & Galleries , Medway Council ’ s Guildhall Museum Rochester and The Amelia Scott - Tunbridge Wells , will receive £ 748,524 from the Arts Council England investment programme . Starting in April 2023 , the grant will enable the consortium to develop high quality cultural engagement over a three-year period in alignment with Arts Council England ’ s Let ’ s Create strategy . Richard Morsley , chief executive , Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust , said : “ The funding will provide resources to grow our Arts Award provision , supporting young people and vulnerable groups to access creative experiences , and increase our informal science , technology , engineering and maths .”
VisitEngland GOLD FOR THE HISTORIC DOCKYARD CHATHAM
The Historic Dockyard Chatham has been awarded a prestigious Gold award from VisitEngland in the annual Attraction Accolades for the quality of its visitor experience . VisitEngland designed the awards to celebrate excellence within the visitor attraction sector and to showcase those businesses in the VisitEngland Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme ( VAQAS ) that go the extra mile to provide an outstanding day out .
The Historic Dockyard Chatham scored 93 % in the VAQAS assessment which took place earlier this year , the only attraction in Kent to have received the Gold accolade ; fellow Kent attraction , Shepherd Neame Visitor Centre , received an accolade for “ Hidden Gem .”
Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust ’ s chief executive , Richard Morsley said : “ This is the fourth time we have had the delight of receiving VisitEngland ’ s Gold award and it is testament to the fantastic team at The Historic Dockyard Chatham who are committed to delivering the highest standard of service to everyone that comes through our doors .”
