CREATE MUSIC VILLAGE
THIS OCTOBER , ASHFORD ’ S GROWING LIVE MUSIC SCENE GETS A SERIOUS BOOST AS A NEW MUSIC FESTIVAL , CREATE MUSIC VILLAGE , FILLS THE TOWN ’ S VENUES WITH EXCITING ACTS .
Led by local venue Revelation , with funding from Arts Council England and Ashford Borough Council , the lineup ranges from established and well-loved names including former Fairground Attraction front woman Eddi Reader , legendary DJ and film director Don Letts and indie favourites Turin Brakes , through to innovative exclusives from local lads Star . One , post-punk chaos from Snapped Ankles and electronic pop from Guardian ‘ one to watch ’ BABii .
The Create Music Village ( or CMV ) consists of four key Ashford venues : Revelation , Coachworks , Macknade and The Glass House , along with a diverse lineup of fringe events including a special series of music-led screenings at Picturehouse .
While all events are ticketed individually , the village concept is centred around the fact that all four venues are within easy walking distance from each other and the organisers hope the festival will not just celebrate , but also help grow Ashford ' s blossoming live music community .
Revelation CEO Debra McGee says : “ Our ambition is simple - we want to create a music village in the heart of Ashford , breathe new life into the town centre , and really develop the Ashford grass roots live music scene . We ’ re so excited to finally share the news that Create Music Village is coming to town .”
The event encompasses a vast array of music styles including beats , electronica and hip hop to rock , folk and indie and is curated by a team including Andre Dack , who runs Ramsgate Music Hall , Ashford ’ s own Casey Dale , best known for his role with BBC Introducing at Radio Kent and returning local act Star . One who say they are excited to be part of such a ground-breaking new event in their former hometown .
