Finishing off in our own fabulous county you will find Woodchurch Wine Estate ( www . woodchurchwine . co . uk ) situated in a beautiful spot in the countryside surrounding Ashford . This season , Woodchurch have teamed up with Simply Ice Cream ( www . simplyicecream . co . uk ) to create an English Sparkling wine sorbet . The sorbet is made with just three ingredients : Woodchurch Classic Brut , sugar and water . The sorbet is silky smooth with refreshing citrus and pear flavours and is only available at the vineyard .
Woodchurch have also announced the release of two new sparkling wines . A Rosé Brut from 2018 and a Chardonnay Brut from 2016 . Donna Barbour , co-owner and founder of Woodchurch says : “ We ’ re particularly excited with these releases as they are two of the finest wines we have ever produced .” Guests can visit the vineyard from Thursday through to Sunday from 11am until 5pm and can purchase wines at cellar door prices . Visitors can also try the wines by the glass or as part of a wine flight .
In addition , Woodchurch have extended their food menu and are now offering cheese , charcuterie and Mediterranean boards all available during opening hours in their stunning modern and bright tasting room , which has panoramic views of the vineyard and rolling countryside .
Simpsons Wine ( www . simpsonswine . com ) based in Barham near Canterbury achieved a Wines of Great Britain Sustainability Certification this August . In line with the Sustainable Wines of Great Britain certification scheme , Simpson Wines told us their continued objectives into the vineyard for this season and in to 2023 include managing their vineyards sustainably , with minimal pesticide and fertiliser inputs ; protecting their vineyard soils ; conserving the environment ; and promoting biodiversity , as well as minimising their vineyard carbon footprint per hectare .
Simpsons Wine told insideKENT . “ After a considerable amount of work and true Simpsons ’ team dedication , we are proud to announce that in July 2022 both our Vineyard and Winery teams celebrated achieving their Sustainability Certification . This means that from the 2022 vintage onwards , we will proudly be able to add this trademark to our wine labels . This was a significant undertaking to demonstrate our commitment and responsibility to minimise our
impact on the environment while maximising our contribution to environmental conservation and biodiversity . We are pleased to be working with WineGB and fellow producers to continue to uphold and improve sustainability across the sector .
We also subscribe to the Walpole Sustainability Manifesto , which in addition to its pledges to safeguard the environment and natural resources , also promotes the transition towards a circular economy and encourages businesses to work with responsible suppliers who can provide traceability across their supply chain . We apply these principles to all product development , with particular emphasis on packaging recyclability .”
Guests can enjoy Simpsons Wine amidst the beauty of their vineyard through wine tasting experiences held on weekday afternoons at their Glass House Tasting Room for an enjoyable exploration of their wines . Vineyard and winery tours that include tasting experiences are also available to visitors on Saturdays and on some Friday afternoons at which guests will take part in a fascinating vineyard and winery tour followed by a guided tasting of the Simpsons range .
