WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF KENT

IF YOU HAVE YOUR SIGHTS SET ON FOLLOWING YOUR AMBITIONS AND APPLYING TO STUDY AT UNIVERSITY IN 2023 , READ THROUGH THE UNIVERSITY OF KENT ’ S HANDY TIPS TO HELP MAKE THE PROCESS RUN AS SMOOTHLY AS POSSIBLE .
First Steps
First thing ’ s first , what would you like to study ? You might already know what you want to do , or you may just vaguely know the subject area you ’ re interested in . Whatever the answer , the next step is key …
Open Days
Go to open days . This is the best way to get a feel for a university . Are you interested in a campus experience , or would you rather be based in a city ? Do you want to live in university accommodation , or do you want to commute ? An in-person open day is the best way to experience the university , but if you can ’ t travel most universities will offer virtual attendance options .
If you haven ’ t made up your mind about what subject you would like to study , an open day is the chance to hear talks on a variety of different courses offered by a university . In many cases it will also give you the chance to speak to an academic , so you can ask questions about the course .
Key Application Dates & Accepting Offers
If you want to study medicine , dentistry or veterinary science , or you would like to apply to Oxford or Cambridge , the deadline to apply is 15 October 2022 . For all other courses the deadline is 25 January 2023 . You can still apply after this deadline ( up until 30 June ) but you may need to be flexible in terms of your preferred course and university in order to secure an offer .
If you applied by the January deadline , you will usually need to make a decision about your firm and insurance choices by May . If you attended open days and / or attended interviews for your course , you probably have a good idea about which universities you want to attend . If you are still not sure , check whether there are opportunities for a second visit , such as a spring open day , applicant day or campus tour .
If you didn ’ t apply by 30 June ( or if you did and want to change your choices ) Clearing opens from early July . You can apply through Clearing if you already have your results , or if you ’ re awaiting your results but are not already holding an offer from a university or college . You can also change on or after Results Day if your results end up being different than you imagined , or if you ’ ve changed your mind about where you ’ d like to study since you applied .
The University of Kent is holding a number of open days in October and November so come and find out where your ambition can take you . Book your place now at kent . ac . uk / visit .
