A summer in Kent can ’ t be spent without visiting one of our glorious vineyards . Based in Appledore near Ashford , this summer award-winning winemaker Gusbourne invites guests to picnic amongst the vines at their specially created picnic place at the top of their Boot Hill vineyard . Picture views across the pinot noir vines , over the lush wetlands of Romney Marsh and towards nearby Camber and Dungeness as you sit down to lunch in the open air . Gusbourne invites guests to bring their dog along too , so none of your family and friends have to miss out . Inside your picnic you ’ ll find the best of Kent and Sussex produce , such as artisan cheese and charcuterie , local fruit and homemade bread , all accompanied by a bottle of Gusbourne Brut Reserve ( usually £ 45 per bottle ). Guests can learn more about Gusbourne ’ s approach to growing grapes and making their wines by soaking up the essence of Gusbourne on a guided tour with one of their experts . There is also the opportunity to purchase bottles from the cellar door to take home with you . Gusbourne picnics ( charcuterie , vegetarian or vegan ) are £ 80 for two people and include a bottle of Gusbourne Brut Reserve .
Don ’ t fancy a picnic ? Pizza and sparkling wine is a great combination . There ' s something about vibrant acidity and bubbles that combines beautifully with silky , rich mozzarella cheese and fresh tomato . Dine at Martino ' s Pizza at Gusbourne this summer for a very special day set amongst the wildflowers of their Boot Hill Garden , where you will overlook the vineyard , eat one of Martino ’ s superb handmade pizzas and sip some brut reserve .
