TIME TO GET CREATIVE
Upgrading your space without spending a fortune doesn ’ t have to be difficult , it just requires a little creativity , here are some ideas to get you started .
MAKE YOUR OWN ARTWORK
The beauty of art is that it ’ s entirely personal , therefore it doesn ’ t have to cost a fortune , or even better still you can make your own . Have a go at working with textiles ; old fabrics stretched over canvas look great . Or experiment with paint ; go big and bold . Other ways include using wallpaper cuttings to make a display , or working with textiles that you love . If art isn ’ t your thing , frame a few of your photographs - purposefully placed on shelves , you ’ ll have your very own gallery space .
PAINT YOUR OWN WALLPAPER
Use different techniques to create your own unique wallpaper design ; you could even use leftover paint if it ties in with the rest of the interior scheme . A sponge works particularly well for this , but make sure to practice beforehand .
STENCIL YOUR FURNITURE
If your chest of drawers or wardrobe is looking worn out , bring it back to life with a little stenciling . Choose your pattern and paint over using a paintbrush ; different brushes will achieve different effects , so always do a tester first . Also remember to prime and finish the look with varnish , you don ’ t want all your end efforts going to waste .
CHANGE THE HANDLES
Update your kitchen by swapping the handles for a new design . Whether you fancy a decorative knob , a piece of rope , or you ’ re going uber-slick with silver cups , a change of just the smallest of details will in turn make the biggest effect .
TUFT YOUR OWN RUG
Making your own rug may seem like a bit of an impossible task , but handmade , homemade rugs are becoming a thing of the present and they ’ re surprisingly a lot easier to do than one might think . There are some incredible tips online , including inspiration from @ bethjoyh , the textile artist who shares her rug making tips via
