Taste Wells of Royal Victoria Place shopping centre have beaten The Pantiles ’ traders to scoop the inaugural Royal Tunbridge Wells Cake Off 2022 trophy . Designed to support the town centre ’ s hospitality sector while celebrating The Queen ’ s platinum jubilee , the Royal Tunbridge Wells Cake Off is the concept of the RTW Together Business Improvement District . The Cake Shed , Pantiles , came in a close third . Taste Wells founder , Sarah , who entered along with husband Derek and collaborating partner , Chef ’ s Pantry , said : “ We ’ re really chuffed ; I told the team and they were all really pleased . We ’ ll be proudly displaying the trophy in our shop !” The event also featured live music and free face painting for children , with donations collected for local food bank charity , Nourish .

Rochester Castle provided a spectacular backdrop for people to watch the Platinum Party at the Palace from a big screen in the castle gardens . More than 50,000 people took part in all of the fantastic events which included a rare spectacle of boats sailing up the River Medway , beacon lighting , picnics in parks , traditional street parties , a replica crown jewel display , a Corgi treasure trail and bunting making workshops .
