With a plethora of meat on show and a range of great steaks to choose from , don ’ t be fooled - a simple steakhouse this is not . Reassuringly , instead you ’ ll find a host of tempting à la carte dishes including the renowned chef ’ s pie of the day , a heart-warming curry and a tempting fish dish .
We began by being lured by the appetisers , deciding to create our own sharing starter combining crisp halloumi fries with za ’ atar and smoked paprika mayonnaise , warm sourdough bread with a moreish yeast butter , and Allhallows honey and wholegrain mustard glazed sausages served in crisp discs with shards of smokey bacon lardons - yes , they were as good as they sound ! An Andouille Scotch egg which came with a smokey sweet barbeque sauce , and baked scallops , fresh , perfectly seared and offset with chorizo completed our selection .
Dishes wiped clean , aided by the sourdough of course , it was time for the main event . Foregoing
the à la carte choices we decided instead to opt for two steak sharing boards , the Chateaubriand , prime cut of fillet and a chef-recommended côte de boeuf bone-in ribeye , both ordered medium rare as recommended . We were soon presented with a heaving board of meaty goodness accompanied by peppercorn , bernaise , chimichurri and garlic butter sauce , as well as overflowing cups of triple-cooked chips , Curious IPA battered onion rings and the oozing house mac and cheese . As forks flew across the table accompanied by delighted ‘ mmms ’ and fights over the chips , it was safe to say that both newbies and returning diners were all happily sated .
Evidently not needing another morsel after our steakfest , but also not ones to turn down pud , the team decided to order a selection from the menu : chef ’ s sweet sticky toffee pudding from his grandmother ’ s recipe worked perfectly with the salted caramel icecream ; the local honey crème brûlée offered the classic crisp crack and delicate flavours , while the
Kent strawberry Eton mess was a delicate affair of fresh strawberries , cream and Balfour rosé sorbet .
Warm , welcoming and continuing to hit the mark , the team should be rightly proud of their continued recognition ; don ’ t hesitate to book a table and see for yourself !
