TONBRIDGE MUSIC WEEKEND
Set against the beautiful backdrop of the historic seaside towns of Deal , Sandwich and Dover on England ’ s south coast , this annual festival celebrates classical and contemporary music from some of the world ' s finest music makers . As well as fine music , expect theatre performances , opera , cinema and dance ; an opportunity for people to come together from far and wide to enjoy a love of music and the arts in an eclectic selection of venues . With the support of Arts Council England , they ensure the highest standards of artistic experience , supporting both the local and regional communities and welcoming artists of international stature . The SoundCrash Funk & Soul Weekender , Dreamland , Margate // 4-5 July
The Funk & Soul Weekender returns for 2022 better than ever ! Experience an incredible lineup of world-class musicians at this weekend festival packed with music icons . Enjoy genre-defying disco legends Sister Sledge , the revolutionary George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic , BBC tastemaker Gilles Peterson , soul-jazz and funk icon Roy Ayers , BBC 6 Music ’ s very own Craig Charles , Good Times head honcho Norman Jay MBE , the inimitable David ‘ Ram Jam ’ Rodigan and a host of luminaries from the scene . JAM on the Marsh Festival , Romney Marsh // 7-17 July
Setting the Kent coast ablaze , JAM on the Marsh returns to the medieval churches and backdrop of the stunning Romney Marsh with an outstanding festival of music , theatre and arts . Highlights for this year ’ s event include : the London Mozart Players and virtuoso clarinettist , Michael Collins , who will be performing the world premiere of Judith Bingham ’ s Clarinet Concerto ; a JAM Festival Commission , alongside Copland ’ s fantastic Clarinet Concerto . Two great wonders of the singing world , tenor James Gilchrist and soprano Lucy Crowe will also come together for their first joint performance of Walton ’ s Façade , 100 years from its first premiere . Other events will also include six exhibitions from local artists , two poetry recitals , and an exciting Mosaics Trail featuring all 14 of the Marshes medieval churches for the first time ever . Year round , JAM has also been running an inspirational arts education programme on the Romney Marsh , and after school singing-clubs will culminate in a vibrant festival performance at one of the venues . www . jamconcert . org
Pub in the Park , Tunbridge Wells // 8-10 July
Tom Kerridge ’ s Pub in the Park festival is set to return for another year for the UK ’ s biggest celebration of food and music – bringing together a collection of award-winning restaurants , chart-topping live music , and of course great food . The festival celebrates everything there is to love about great British pub food and stars a fantastic lineup of well-recognised chefs some of which are Tom ’ s best friends – expect to see some of the hottest names in the food world , including Michelin-starred greats and some of your TV favourites . Their award-winning pubs and restaurants will quite literally pop-up around the park , each serving a selection of tasting dishes that everyone is welcome to try – from street food , to nationally renowned eateries .
Grab a seat at the Chef Demo stage and be inspired by the recipes and advice , keep the children entertained in the kids area , or head to the bar for a cocktail or two . Expect fun and great music from some of the best tribute acts around at Tonbridge ’ s very own castle this summer . Get ready to recreate the 70s with headline act Lost in Music who will take the crowds through a musical journey to the heart of disco , as well as joining A Night At the Musicals and Collabro , Britain ' s Got Talent winners .
