THE FESTIVAL ON THE HILL IS BACK !
THE ST EDMUND ’ S PUBLIC ARTS FESTIVAL RETURNS THIS SUMMER TO THE TOP OF ST THOMAS HILL IN THE BEAUTIFUL GROUNDS OF ST EDMUND ’ S SCHOOL WITH A STAR-STUDDED LINE-UP .

The week-long celebration of the arts runs from 29th June – 5th July and promises rich , diverse entertainment as it brings together musicians , actors , poets , artists and dancers to entertain audiences in Canterbury . With performances from international superstars to young musicians beginning their career , there will be something for everyone at this year ’ s Festival on the Hill .
HIGHLIGHTS NOT TO BE MISSED :
29th June - Sheku & Isata Kanneh Mason This brother-sister duo perform an exquisite programme for cello and piano . Cellist Sheku shot to worldwide fame when performing at the 2018 Royal Wedding and is in high demand from orchestras around the world – Canterbury is very lucky to have him !
3rd July – Jenna Russell A truly talented star of Broadway and the West End , Jenna ’ s concert will wow audiences with musical theatre numbers from her favourite shows .
4th July – Some Kinda Wonderful A celebration of Stevie Wonder ’ s music featuring Noel McCalla and Derek Nash .
5th July – Strictly Festival ! A dazzling dance competition with guest judges James and Ola Jordan .
Other performances include Gumboots Reggae and South by Zero with live music that promises to bring sunshine to the festival marquee and in complete contrast there is a special evensong in Canterbury Cathedral to celebrate this year ’ s festival .
The talented pupils of St Edmund ’ s School will get the chance to perform for the public in The Language of Art , Cabaret Night , Poetry Day and St Ed ’ s Big Band plays soul .
The St Edmund ’ s Festival is also very much about the visual arts and is delighted to launch the inaugural Canterbury Art Prize for juniors and seniors as well as exhibiting an eclectic mix of work from the competition winners and St Edmund ’ s art students .
And for those who prefer to participate in something new , why not join James Bland ’ s life drawing class or try Cass ’ s Yoga on the Hill ? For children ( and grown-ups !) Rich Rhythms ’ uplifting drumming workshop sessions will be good for body and soul on a Sunday morning !
Since 2017 , St Edmund ’ s Festival , supported by patron John Harle and festival partners , The Canterbury Auction Galleries and Paul Roberts Canterbury , and media partner insideKENT , has been committed to promoting the arts and providing inspiring artistic opportunities for young people in East Kent . The 2022 festival continues this work and looks forward to opening its doors to welcome audiences once again .
