Were there any project pitfalls ?
Like all projects , you ’ ll always come across obstacles . For example , a bath was desired for this space . After presenting different layout plans , Lottie decided that a bath can be added to the future plans for the second bathroom . In our opinion , we are glad she chose to not add a bath since the space feels just right with the new design .
How did you find the balance between an excellent designled refurb which also kept to budget ?
We approached this by looking at the furniture first . Once we knew which products could fit – this is normally done in the layout process – we were then able to provide a simple design that didn ’ t overpower the beauty of the fixtures and products by Crosswater .
Where do you start with interior styling for a home that you won ' t be living in ?
It ’ s vital to grasp the client ’ s vision in order to emulate it through the design . In our client profile stage , they can share inspirational images , Pinterest boards , and their interior style type . Using this , we create a moodboard that also displays furniture that could end up on the final list . Once they are happy with all that , it allows us to pair everything together to create a flow in the home , rather than just throwing everything together . Each piece has its own place and purpose .
What were the common mistakes that you managed to avoid ?
Common mistakes I try to avoid are certain elements related to the building . Working closely with builders , one has to be respectful and understand that is their field . With this mindset , I often request their guidance before offering a major renovation that may have potential issues , such as an internal load bearing wall that cannot be taken down , a toilet that cannot be moved , etc .
