GASTRO GALLEY OPENS AT THE FAMOUS SHIP INN , SANDGATE
TRADITIONAL LONDON PIE AND MASH SHOP OPENS IN FOLKESTONE
The Famous Ship Inn in Sandgate has welcomed the arrival of innovative new landlord Pete Cook , who in just three months changed the pub ' s name by adding ‘ famous ’ to make it stand out from the crowd . Pete has also expanded the food offering at the venue , which includes fine-dining and now has the addition of delectable takeaway venture Gastro Galley . Gastro Galley will be an upmarket version of classic takeaway food , which shares the high standards of the fine-dining restaurant . Trendy burgers and loaded fries can be ordered for delivery or collection , which will no doubt be popular in summer due to The Famous Ship ’ s brilliant beachfront location .
NEW SUSHI RESTAURANTS COME TO ROCHESTER
Opening its doors in the heart of Folkestone town centre on Guildhall Street , Betty ’ s Pye and Mash , will be serving a wide range of pies supplied by Manzes , who have been in the industry for over 100 years . The concept began in East London in around 1862 and has since become synonymous with the area , regaining popularity in recent years . Honouring this tradition and also the town ’ s seaside location , oysters , jellied and stewed eels , jacket potatoes and sausage and mash are also on the menu .
NEW TENTERDEN PÂTISSERIE FOR RESPECTED PASTRY CHEF
Teaming up to open two restaurants on Rochester High Street , food lovers Alan Brett and Steve Pennington have reimagined the former Simply Italian building at number 55 the High Street . The new venues Fish at 55 and Sakana at 55 will serve up seasonal dishes , specialising in fresh fish , sushi and seafood .
Run by a team of 50 passionate employees , the two restaurants will be in the same building , with Fish at 55 on the ground and first floors , and Sakana at 55 on the lower level . With a menu promoting sustainability , the concept of the restaurants remain uncomplicated - to provide long-term customers with the best quality , carefully sourced , best prepared , tastiest fish in simple and classic ways .
Chris Underwood , who has worked in a myriad of Michelin starred restaurants , including Fera in Claridge ’ s Hotel , has arrived in Tenterden to bring an unforgettable pâtisserie , Artisserie to the town .
During 2020 , Chris developed his pâtisserie skills even further as executive pastry chef at The Belmond Cadogan Hotel and oversaw Cadogans by Adam Handling and Adam Handling Chelsea Restaurant in London , winning the ‘ Best Contemporary Afternoon Tea in the UK ’ in 2019 after just six months of opening . Teaming up with Graham Garett , author of acclaimed autobiographical cookbook , Sex & Drugs & Sausage Rolls , his magnificently crafted treats are ready for the public to purchase .
