THE FERRY HOUSE WEDDING VENUE IS SET WATERSIDE ALONG THE SWALE ESTUARY . ITS ‘ EDGE OF THE WORLD ’ SURROUNDINGS ARE A WILD AND WONDERFUL BLEND OF COUNTRY AND COASTLINE . FROM THE WATERFRONT , DOZENS OF LITTLE FLEET RIVERS HAVE CARVED THEIR WAY INTO THE MEADOWS AND SWAYING GRASSLANDS IN WHAT MIGHT BE ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND ETHEREAL SCENES IN KENT .
This 16th century former inn owned by Alex and Victoria Burden since 2000 , has been lovingly restored with quality at the forefront of their decision making and design . The Ferry House includes all the hallmarks of a special wedding venue , while preserving the building ’ s heritage and country character . Rustically refined and elegant it most certainly is , with a beautiful wedding barn and oak gazebo overlooking the water hosting ceremonies for up to 200 guests , as well as receptions for up to 70 in the barn or 250 in the dedicated event suite .
Victoria Burden says “ it is an absolute pleasure and a privilege to host and share in our couples ’ special day . They choose us for our beautiful location and venue of course , but also for the relaxed ambience we bring to their day and the personal planning service we offer . There is a lot that sets us apart as a venue , our food and drink options being one .” Also an AA Rosette restaurant and two-time ‘ Taste of Kent ’ award winner , expansive menus utilise The Ferry House ’ s own produce , homegrown in their large kitchen garden , as well as beef from their family farm , game from their local estate and artisan spirits made locally from their farmed grains . “ Our food provenance is really important to us , and that reflects during your wedding .”
The Ferry House also offers eleven luxury B & B rooms , as well as five country cottages that can accommodate over 70 wedding guests overnight . “ Our accommodation is certainly a big draw to our couples , and is very unique for a venue that is not a stately home or a hotel . Our couples love that we can offer the rustic , refined ambience of a barn wedding , plus the accommodation that lets their guests really share in and make the most of their day . Some couples even choose a two-day wedding , or a country mini break to extend their celebrations .”
