“ Pet bird owners have to appreciate that as a prey species , birds are exceptionally good at masking the signs of disease . This has several implications . Firstly it means that a sick bird will look normal for as long as possible . In the wild they do this to avoid predators . Secondly and as importantly it means that when a bird does show signs of being ill it is potentially very ill indeed and requires immediate attention . Therefore it is important that any change in behaviour is investigated as soon as possible . Here at Heronden we have full facilities for diagnosing , hospitalising and treating avian patients . We recognise the specific needs of ill birds and are able to address them at the surgery .”
