The Essentials
So , you have your bar , but now to dress it . It ’ s important to remember that a good home bar in whatever shape or form requires attention ; it takes love , care and time to get it exactly how you ’ d like . However , with a little research and planning , it ’ ll be up to restaurant standards before you know it . Firstly , invest in a variety of drinks . Consider popular tipples and recipes – what cocktails will you be offering ? A well-balanced gin or vodka will suit most serves , while a mature whisky , rum or tequila will be used in the more complex ( and stronger !) concoctions . Don ’ t forget to stock small bottles of bitters , vermouth and other mixers – these are essential for any bar . If you ’ re putting cocktails on the menu , you ’ ll be needing the right tools to get mixing . Start with a cocktail shaker . There are plenty on the market , but a two-part metal shaker is the recommended go-to . Other essentials include : the jigger for speedy , accurate measuring ( also looks really stylish ), a mixing glass , bar spoon and strainer . Invest in some top-notch bartending tools and find your inner mixologist .
