Tell us about the ethos of La Fixe and why responsible , sustainable fashion is so important to you ?

In an already saturated market and in an industry responsible for huge carbon emissions , mass landfill dumps and even slave labour , it was so vital that La Fixe made the pieces right here in the U . K and worked with fabric mills as close to our shores as possible to reduce our carbon footprint . Our studio in Kent ensures everyone is happy and paid well and our main supplier in Italy , a small family run silk mill , is the same . We know at La Fixe with every item sold , everyone in the production chain has been paid well and works in a safe , clean environment . Because we work with small independent suppliers , we are not producing mass products . In fact , some pieces really are very much limited edition . This works really well for us because people can be sure that when you buy something from us , it really is a special piece , and you know exactly where it has come from .

How do you approach the design of your collections ?

After many years in the fashion industry , it became apparent to me that society places too many unspoken rules on women . Too old for this , too young for that , too big for those and too small for them . Each piece is designed with this in mind . We wanted

to create a collection that can work for all women . Adjustable spaghetti straps , tie up bottoms , oversized silk poplin skirts . Each piece has been considered from production to fit . At La Fixe all shapes are equal .

How did the concept and realisation of La Fixe develop ?

I have been besotted with French culture since I was a small child . I am sure the 90 ’ s Renault Clio ad “ Nicole ” … “ Papa ” might have had something to do with it ! Or maybe it was holidaying around France ? Who knows ? Either way , I was sold . Destined to live and breathe it all in as I walked the streets of Paris in YSL ! It turns out … I never did . So , in essence , La Fixe is me , Nicole , encapsulated . Inspired by the exacting taste and everlasting style of European women who walk , work and live life in those cities of everyday romance .

La Fixe ’ s product ethos is decidedly uncomplicated and effortlessly stylish , designed to be loved and lived in a thousand different ways . By a thousand ( and some ) different women . The collection is a daily ‘ fixe ’ of timeless Italian silks , sumptuous

organic cotton and low maintenance , big impression tailoring . Each interchangeable for every moment that life puts before us . Built with sustainable practice and conscious consumerism in mind , fabrics are sourced across Europe and hand crafted in the UK .
