LES MISÉRABLES COMES TO THE MARLOWE THEATRE , CANTERBURY
Since Cameron Mackintosh first conceived this acclaimed new production of Les Misérables in 2009 to celebrate the show ’ s 25th anniversary it has taken the world by storm continuing to enjoy record-breaking runs in countries including North America , Australia , Japan , Korea , France and Spain . Canterbury has now been added to the lucky list of cities in which the show will be performed .
Boublil and Schönberg ’ s epic musical can be seen at The Marlowe Theatre on Friday 30th September until Saturday 29th October 2022 . Joining the previously announced Dean Chisnall as ‘ Jean Valjean ’, Nic Greenshields as ‘ Javert ’ and Katie Hall as ‘ Fantine ’ will be Ian Hughes as ‘ Thénardier ’, Will Callan as ‘ Marius ’, Nathania Ong as ‘ Eponine ’, Helen Walsh as ‘ Madame Thénardier ’, Barnaby Hughes as ‘ Enjolras ’, and Paige Blankson as ‘ Cosette ’.
GAIA COMES TO ROCHESTER CATHEDRAL
Luke Jerram ’ s Gaia will be arriving at Rochester Cathedral in February 2022 , the perfect exhibition for lovers of space and its vast beauty . Measuring seven metres in diameter , Gaia features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the Earth ’ s surface and provides the opportunity to see our planet on this scale , floating in three-dimensions .
A specially made surround-soundcomposition by BAFTA-award-winning composer Dan Jones will be played alongside the sculpture , adding to its breathtaking presence . Rochester Cathedral will announce further details about events surrounding Gaia later this year , all of which will explore climate change and the Church of England ’ s intention to be Net Carbon Zero by 2030 .

HOMEWOOD SCHOOL TENTERDEN ACHIEVES DOUBLE SPORTING SUCCESS AFTER # THISGIRLCAN WEEK
Hot on the heels of its successful This Girl Can Week , Homewood School in Tenterden now has a sporting double to celebrate and inspire other female students . Year 9 student Elsie-May became England Boxing Schools No1 when she was crowned 2021 champion at her weight , in Newcastle last month . With this major success under her belt , Elsie-May ’ s dream of being selected for a future Olympic Games has become all the more real as she will now be assessed on the sport ’ s GB performance pathway . Homewood also celebrated the success of Year 11 student Ava , who took part in London Pulse Netball Trials , in which she played with the rising stars of the Vitality Netball Superleague and as a result was selected for one of their U17 teams . In addition to this , Ava is one of just 24 selected out of 888 girls who took part in the National Premier League trial for their main team ; she is now waiting to hear if she has been selected . Principal Jeremy Single said : “ It is no easy task to juggle the competing demands of elite sport training and schoolwork but both girls have worked hard and managed the balance , achieving these fantastic results . We are extremely proud of them .”
Bluewater is welcoming eight new brands in the run-up to the festive season , including the first UK store for online retailer Amazon , women ’ s footwear and accessories specialist Carvela , coffee brand Nespresso , independent Kent distillery Anno Distillers , cosmetic specialists Laser Clinics , Europe ’ s media and entertainment company Sky , discount retailer The Works and children ’ s boutique Rosie Cheeks .
Amazon has chosen Kent as the county in which it launches its very first UK inperson four-star store on the Upper Guildhall . The 3,500-sqft flagship store offers a range of curated products that are rated four stars and above , are top sellers , or are trending on their website . Customers will find a selection of items from the top categories including electronics , toys , games , books , kitchen and more . On the independent side of the shops to join Bluewater , award-winning Kent-based distillery Anno Distillers , have opened their new store on the Upper Thames Walk , selling a range of spirits including gin , as well as whisky and vodka . Founded by former scientists in 2011 , the award-winning brand opened their gin distillery in the picturesque village of Marden in Maidstone , where they make all their spirits in a 300-litre copper pot .
