KENT TEENAGER ’ S BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP GOLD
16 year old George Elmore from Chatham has secured the 2021 Circuit Powerboat Association GT30 British Championship Gold Medal .
The youngster competed at the final round of the championship in Stewartby , Bedford . Previous rounds were held at Lancashire and Oulton Broad . George went into the weekend 2 points behind the Championships leader Ashley Penfold . With a strong fleet of competitors George knew he had his work cut out for him if he was to finish the Championship on the top spot .
The competition was fierce but George drove a blinder securing three second place finishes and a first in the final heat to secure himself the gold medal .
On his championship title the youngster had this to say : " It ' s been really close racing all season amongst a great fleet of racers . I knew there was a chance I could claim the title … but certainly had my work cut out for me and it went down to the last race of the season !"
He continued : " I ' d like to say a huge thank you to my team , family and supporters for all their hard work and dedication in helping me achieve my dreams ."
FROM CHISLEHURST TO THE M & S CATWALK
Having been crowned the winner of Marks & Spencer ’ s Sparks Live customer competition , after posting a picture of herself modelling her favourite M & S outfit on Instagram and impressing the judges with her amazing look , Chislehurst local Ana Ors won the opportunity to grace the catwalk at Marks & Spencer ’ s Autumn / Winter preview Sparks Live event , hosted by TV presenter and M & S Brand Ambassador Holly Willoughby .
In front of Holly , and streamed live to a record-breaking 17k Sparks Live viewers , Ana modelled looks from M & S ’ s latest AW21 collection , which is available instore and online now . Ana ’ s chic look included a stylish pair of side stripe wide leg trousers – set to be a huge
AW21 trend – matched perfectly with a seasonal belted shacket and white T-shirt .
Hosts Holly Willoughby , editor-in-chief of Stylist Magazine Lisa Smosarski and M & S ’ s womenswear buying lead Polly Young , were wowed by Ana ’ s impressive catwalk debut , and described her look as “ wearable and comfy , but oh so elegant .”
Ana said : “ I ’ ve always been a massive fan of M & S ; I ’ ve shopped there all my life , so when I heard about this competition , I thought why not enter ?! The experience was surreal and better than anything I could ’ ve imagined . From walking the catwalk to meeting Holly , it was a real privilege to be involved and my day was definitely anything but ordinary !”
SEASON LAUNCH FOR GULBENKIAN ARTS CENTRE
Internationally renowned programmer David Sefton has launched his first full season programming at the Gulbenkian Arts Centre at University of Kent .
Fast becoming a major collaborator and factory for the development of new work , commissioning and hosting production development , GAC will be working with five artists in residence on a long-term basis : The Foreign Office & Wild Yak , Jasmin Vardimon Company , John Woolrich , Conrad Murray and A E .
In addition to the artists in residence , artists appearing in the 21 / 22 Season include Nitan Sawney , Pere Ubu , Roger Eno , John Hegley , The Tiger Lillies , Gruff Rhys , Erland Cooper , Tom Robinson , Yo La Tengo , Stile Antico , Didy Veldman and Humanoove , Austentatious , Motionhouse , People Like Us , Alasdair McGowan , Sindhu Vee , Sara Pascoe , Jason Byrne , Brian Cox , and Robin Ince . to bring you my first year ’ s programme at the Gulbenkian . There are lots of changes and lots to get excited about . For the first time we are bringing the wonderful Colyer-Fergusson Building under the programming wing where we will be presenting a whole range of music and art , we also have a brand new purpose-built small space beside our bar where intimate work will now happen , as well as our much-loved theatre and cinema . In October we break out into the world too with the Canterbury chapter of the massive international project The Walk .
