Let There Be Light cont ...
“ Adding a roof lantern will dramatically transform your living space . They ’ re a great way of making rooms feel larger , as they ’ re often pitched , which means your ceiling height will be higher . They ’ ll flood light into the home , helping to create a bright , airy and spacious feel to your room .”

GIVE THE ILLUSION OF SPACE

Any work you can do visually to create the illusion of space in interiors is very much welcomed . Research shows that humans dislike being confined to small spaces , which would explain the rise in popularity of open-plan living . Several contributing factors all influence how we perceive a room : the shape , aesthetics and most significantly , the lighting ; designers and architects will consider all of these aspects during the stages of design .
Sliding Doors Bedroom In Satin Pearl Glass , Sharps
Glass in interiors is a must , this translucent material has the effect of adding valuable space , particularly in smaller houses or rooms . ‘ Invite the outdoors in ’; a phrase heard a lot in interior and architectural design , is an opportunity to create a bond between the indoor and outdoor space . Elongating a room with glass doors or windows , will draw the eye towards the garden , creating a wonderful , natural backdrop . Modern glass walls or partitions with frameless panels will also have a profound effect , creating the illusion of space without taking anything away from the original features of the room . Achieve maximum natural light by installing skylights or glass ceilings – beautiful in kitchen areas , darker rooms or flat roofs . Adding in a ceiling window will allow the space to be flooded with light , for an airy , spacious feel .
Don ’ t forget mirrors , the cornerstone of interior design advice , adding a mirror will fool the eye and impact how the light falls within a space – wherever possibly incorporate reflective surfaces opposite windows to harness the natural light . Remember ceiling lights will often cast large shadows , to counteract this introduce low level lighting , focus on low hanging pendants and spread light over the entirety of the room , this will most certainly create the illusion of space .
