Beer + Burger
The O2 boasts a massive selection of bars and restaurants that are open for all-day dining . From high street favourites to newer indie chains , visitors will be sure to find something to suit their tastes and budgets . For # TeamSideways the ‘ as it says on the tin ’ combo of Beer + Burger won out !
The first thing that really strikes you when entering Beer + Burger is the irresistible smell wafting from the kitchen , filling the dining area with the mouthwatering aroma of meaty , cheesy goodness . After reviewing the simple , yet inclusive menu most of us opted for a classic ; the humble cheese burger ; some with a double patty , some with a side of mapleglazed bacon – yum ! Our resident plant-based preferrer opted for the aptly named ‘ the vegan ’, whilst director Adam , went more adventurous , opting to try the monthly ‘ guest burger ’ special which for June proffered the A-lamb Shearer ; a double lamb burger topped with salty halloumi , sweet piquillo peppers , smoked almond romesco , baby spinach , and slathered in tangy tzatziki .
Now , to say that Beer + Burger ’ s cheeseburgers now hold a special place in my heart would be an understatement ; the succulent meat patties , the generous helping of American cheese , topped with pickles , onions and doused in the restaurants OG goop sauce , now live rent free in my mind . I , along with the rest of the seemingly starved team , also treated myself to a side of fries . Whilst others went full on loaded , I opted for cheese and gravy , gifted the kind of side that makes your eyes roll back in your head slightly when consuming it , and makes you seriously consider mopping up the leftover gravy with your tongue !
The accommodating staff graciously handled all our requests , including allergy advice , omitted ingredients and even the somewhat strange plea for a side of pickles . Whilst the beer selection ranges from simple lagers that pair perfectly with your belly busting meat feast , to more complex concoctions whose flavours dance on the tongue and warm your stomach – a perfect combo !
