A dazzling line-up for summer 2022
In 2022 the week-long festival will be back June 29th – July 5th to celebrate the fantastic talents of young people by bringing to Canterbury an event that is fresh , creative and innovative with a line-up of worldclass artists .
And we can reveal that there will be not just one but two headline acts …
The brilliant brother-and-sister duo , Sheku & Isata Kanneh-Mason will open the festival on June 29th . Sheku is the former winner of BBC Young Musician of the Year and the cellist at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex . He and his sister , Isata , will perform a beautifully conceived programme for cello and piano .
Then back by popular demand , American legendary singer / songwriter , Curtis Stigers with his band will return to St Edmund ' s .
Along with a musical theatre star from the West End , a Strictly dance show and much more the next
Festival on the Hill promises to be a dazzling week of theatre , art and music .
St Edmund ’ s head of performance , Ian Swatman , told us : “ In the journey that is undertaken as an artist , whether it be a musician , actor , painter or poet we all must be inspired and the aim at the core of our festival is to offer the opportunity for people of all ages to be inspired by artistic excellence .”
This public arts festival would not be possible without the support of its festival partners , Paul Roberts and The Canterbury Auction Galleries , and event sponsors . It is certainly encouraging to know that local businesses are committed to championing the arts in Canterbury for all to enjoy .
