FULL SPEED AHEAD FOR CHARITY CAR RUN
More than 20 cars and 25 bikers have hit the road to raise money for Strode Park Foundation .
Joining the charity ’ s first ever car run in June , the event , which was staggered over three days in small groups to ensure Covid-19 restrictions were adhered to , started in Herne Bay and finished at the Battle of Britain Museum in Capel-le-Ferne near Folkestone .
The 45-mile route along the way took in the idyllic Kent countryside as well as sites that have a Battle of
Britain theme including the Spitfire & Hurricane Memorial Museum , Manston , Battle of Britain Memorial Museum , Hawkinge , St John ' s Cemetery in Margate and the memorial at Ealham Valley .
Drivers and riders , who raised more than £ 800 for Strode Park Foundation , also enjoyed a quiz along the way too , with questions of things to spot on route .
Director of fundraising and communications , Karen Jeal , said : “ All those that have come along to support
us have had a great time and most importantly we ’ ve been able to raise money for children , young people and adults with disabilities that we care for and support . It was great to see all the classic cars turn up too ! We ’ d like to say a special thank you to John and Sheila Bennett for helping us to plan out this route and we are hopeful of organising another soon , which we look forward to sharing the details soon .”
WEST KENT MUSIC CENTRE FOR SEVENOAKS AND TONBRIDGE
Kent Music have announced the launch of the new dual-campus West Kent Music Centre in Sevenoaks and Tonbridge , offering high quality music education for everyone .
Starting this summer , the centre will be a hub for the local youth music community . Providing access to fantastic music education outside of school hours , young musicians will now access firstrate , affordable music lessons and groups – whether they ’ re available in school or not !
The Sevenoaks campus is home to a wide range of instrumental and vocal lessons , with new junior ensembles and choirs to begin in September 2021 , and the Tonbridge campus hosts weekly advanced ensembles .
Instruments available for tuition at the centre include trumpet , French horn , saxophone , oboe , bassoon , violin , guitar , piano , drum kit and more , as well as courses like music theory , music technology and jazz improv .
Area manager for West Kent , Steph Godwin said of the new centre : “ After a difficult year for musicians , we are very much looking forward to welcoming both new and old students to the relaunched West Kent Music Centre where they can enjoy making music and new friendships . With the lifting of restrictions , I am excited to hear our choirs and ensembles in full force and am looking forward to our first concert with an audience !”
