XL Pools CONT .
What problems were faced during the project ?
Whilst the project ran smoothly and did not encounter any significant problems during the construction it was tough ( yet very rewarding !) to work to such a tight installation timescale .
When building a pool , there can be some minor landscaping repairs needed from diggers and dumper trucks , however , we minimised this damage by using matting wherever heavy machinery was driving . Thanks to our excellent planning and project management we were able to ensure that products and materials were on-site at the right time which allowed us to complete the project ontime .
What are the benefits of a one-piece swimming pool over a concrete pool ?
Well aside from the fact that they come complete and offer a much quicker installation timeframe , one-piece pools offer better quality control as they are built offsite in a controlled environment instead of onsite where they ’ d be exposed to the elements . They are also more thermally efficient , require less chemicals to keep them clean as there are no porous surfaces which can harbour bacteria and mould , and arguably they offer a better finish ; beautiful colours and wonderfully smooth avoiding the harsh feeling of grout lines on your feet .
What should people consider when looking for a pool and a company to install it ?
There are many things that people should consider when choosing to install their own pool .
First and foremost is what will your pool be used for ? Is it for swimming up and down for exercise , kids play , aerobics , wallowing , or recreation ? All of these choices will have an impact on which shape and size pool is most suitable . Remember that the bigger the pool the greater the running costs ; the wider the pool the greater the cost of spanning it ; the deeper the pool the greater the volume of water that is rarely swum in .
You need to consider what fuel options are available in your home , this will affect the choice of heating equipment available as well as associated costs and heat demand response times .
And , of course , temperature of your pool is important for your usage and also your running costs . In general terms , the greater the temperature , the higher the running costs , which is logically to be expected . However , it is important to understand that as water temperature increases , the energy consumption – and therefore the cost – of doing so increases exponentially . In simple terms , disproportionately more energy will be consumed raising the pool from 25 º C to 30 º C and maintaining it there than from 20 º C to 25 º C , even though the intervals between the two – i . e . 5 º C – are the same .
The water temperature in a swimming pool is generally whatever you desire it to be and on occasions that is the ambient temperature in an outdoor pool . However most bathers in this country require a constant temperature somewhat warmer than ambient in their pool regardless of whether it is outside or indoors . The temperature in the pool water should generally be dependent on two things – the comfort of the bathers ( which will depend on the activity in the pool ; swimming for exercise will require a lower temperature than those learning to swim or for very young children ) and the budgetary constraints of the person paying the heating bills !
The position of an outdoor pool and its proximity to the house is vital . When deciding on the site of an outdoor pool , facing south to maximise exposure to the sun is usually the best option . However , take into consideration shadows and the time of day the pool is to be used . Many people think that trees are a nuisance . Perhaps they are , but a completely tree free site is almost impossible to find except in the middle of the desert , and trees also provide a natural protection of privacy and shade . Most outdoor pools tend only to be open from spring , through summer and into early autumn and , as such , are closed and covered for the main part of autumn leaf fall . Whilst an indoor pool , contrary to popular belief , does not have to be in the middle of its designated pool room .
