When buying a piece of art , establish your budget , then go with your gut instinct . Where possible , try and find an original piece of art created in its true form and with love by the artist . Even with £ 100 you can find original artwork from what is hopefully an upcoming artist . Talk with the gallery and explain the type of work you like and your budget , and they will recommend suitable artists .

AFFORDABLE ART

More often than not , the art market can seem somewhat daunting , particularly when it comes to budget . One would assume that collecting original art is for those who have lots of money to spend , however , with the sources available nowadays , it ’ s easier than ever to pick up artwork at all price points . Start by establishing your budget , where possible find graduate shows , start-up galleries or open studio events . Look to sources like Instagram , as cliche as it may sound , it ’ s the perfect hunting ground for affordable paintings , prints and posters , and is also handy for keeping up with galleries , and emerging artists ; where the pieces might not come at such a hefty price tag . Finding less known , local artists ; you might have the opportunity to meet them , discover their studio space and know more about the background behind the work ; the philandric feeling when supporting a local artist makes it all worthwhile . Remember to consider different mediums , incorporate textiles like wall rugs , ceramic collections , glass or metal work pieces , even old family photographs or your own drawings – art really is for everyone !
