“ Absolutely invest in art with your heart , soul and mind ! If you discover a piece which you connect with and which evokes a positive , beautiful feeling within you , then go for it . Equally , you may find a piece which makes you think and might be a real conversation starter or statement piece . I believe that , particularly in the case of abstract art , that you are buying a feeling or an emotion . If you fall in love with a piece of art and it speaks to your soul , then believe in your heart – it was meant to be !”

“ The most important thing about art is that it brings you joy . If you can ’ t agree with a loved one , don ’ t compromise , always buy something that you truly love . Remember art is never going to be a bad investment , but it can take years , if not generations , to mature in value . Rather than buying for profit , think that you ’ re investing in 30 years of enjoyment of the piece and something you can share with your family .”

GO WITH YOUR GUT

There is no right or wrong when choosing art , a bit like music it ’ s entirely subjective , and what someone may love may be another person ’ s worst nightmare . Equally , no one can tell you what you do or don ’ t like , hence why choosing the right piece sometimes can be a long journey – finding the right piece comes with patience . The biggest thing to remember however , is to fall in love . Investing in a piece of artwork that you absolutely love will never be a bad move , whether you ’ re buying something to celebrate an occasion or milestone or simply because you can ’ t stop thinking about it – you won ’ t regret the decision . Collectible artists make for great investments , but choose something you ’ re going to be happy living with for years to come .
