Walking has to be one of the best activities to do in Kent and lets be honest , we are spoilt for choice . Surrounded by well over 500 acres , the National Trust ’ s Ightam Mote is the perfect place to walk , whether you ’ re looking for a gentle stroll or more strenuous hike there are several routes to explore . Embrace the Kentish countryside as you set off on the circular route to Old Soar Manor , a building dating back to medieval times , walk through the ancient woodlands of Stathes Wood , Fairlawne Estate and onto Spout through the stunning orchards . Head in the other direction towards Oldbury Hill and admire amazing views across the rolling countryside , the old ragstone quarry and roman fish ponds – breathtaking ! So grab your walking boots , it ’ s time to stretch your legs and start exploring Ightham Mote .

Looking for an adventure for the whole family ? Betteshanger guarantees an energy packed day , with its 250 acre site offering a centre for a whole host of outdoor sports and activities . It famously houses the most important cycling centre in East Kent , with a 3km cycling track – a safe , traffic free zone ideal for children and the more serious cyclist . If that ’ s not enough , there are a further 10km of mountain bike trails to explore that are sure to excite every level of cyclist , with bike hire available on site if you need it . Other activities include a great outdoor playpark , archery , den building , geo-caching ( basically treasure hunting ) and roller skiing – yes , you read that correctly , this sport is not for the fainthearted but will definitely have you smiling . You ’ ll also want to keep your eyes peeled for the seasonal events hosted on site , remember to plan before arriving though , as many activities require booking in advance and there ’ s stacks to see and do !
