THIRTY YEARS AGO , HEART OF KENT HOSPICE OPENED THEIR DOORS TO CARE FOR PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES LIVING IN MAIDSTONE , AYLESFORD , TONBRIDGE , MALLING AND SURROUNDING AREAS WITH A TERMINAL ILLNESS . DURING THESE THREE DECADES THEY HAVE ENABLED OVER 17,000 TERMINALLY ILL PATIENTS TO LIVE IN COMFORT , WITH INDEPENDENCE AND DIGNITY TO THE END OF THEIR LIVES ; WHETHER IN THE HOSPICE , IN THEIR OWN HOMES OR IN OTHER CARE SETTINGS .
Heart of Kent Hospice receives donations from supporters that make a gift in their will , who wish to leave a lasting legacy , to make a difference . Their gift helps the hospice to continue to provide exceptional care to people living with a terminal illness in their local community , making a difference at one of the most difficult times in people ’ s lives .
Gifts in Wills form a very important part of the income that the hospice requires to be able to provide outstanding care and provides financial stability to plan into the future . After ensuring that your family , loved ones and other causes close to your heart are taken care of , a small gift or small percentage of your estate can have a huge impact on the work of the hospice .
Claire Ashby , supporter care manager at Heart of Kent Hospice , explains :

Making a will ensures that when you die , your estate , which includes your money , property and possessions are shared exactly according to your wishes , guaranteeing that your family , your friends and your favourite causes are looked after in the event of your death . Leaving a gift in your will to Heart of Kent Hospice is easy to do and your solicitor will be able to include this in your will for you .
Claire continues : “ Gifts in Wills make an enormous difference to our income and the number of people that we are able to care for . You do not need to let us know that you are leaving us a gift in your will , but if you decide to do so , we can discuss with you how your gift could be used and share the difference that it makes .”
As a registered charity , the hospice relies on the kindness and generosity of their local community to raise over £ 3 million each year to continue to provide the vital care that so many depend upon .
