AMBER WRIGHT
AMBER IS A TRUE ARTIST OF THE DIGITAL AGE . HAVING STARTED HER ARTIST JOURNEY JUST A FEW YEARS AGO ON INSTAGRAM , SHE HAS USED HER PLATFORM TO EXPLORE HER CREATIVITY , INSPIRATION AND PASSION . ALL THE WHILE SURROUNDING HERSELF WITH A COMMUNITY OF LIKE-MINDED FEMALE ARTISTS ALL COMMITTED TO EMPOWERING AND LIFTING EACH OTHER UP . WHETHER IT BE CREATING CUSTOM PET PORTRAITS OR PAINTING THE NUDE FEMALE FORM , THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT BIG THINGS ARE AROUND THE CORNER FOR THIS ARTIST .
If you had to define your art , how would you describe what you do ?
Ostensibly I am a pet portrait artist , but I constantly experiment with my potential to interpret ideas and emotions in artistic form . I do a lot of nude work because I like breaking conventions . I struggle to define my art , but I think that is what inspires me , I am constantly developing my skills and my style as I discover myself as an artist . Maybe I will never be able to define my art but that ’ s ok !
You draw a lot of nude female bodies , what is it about that particular muse that inspires you so and makes the paintings so enjoyable to create ?
The female body has been a muse for artists for centuries and I can understand why . There is a certain gratification in painting a woman ’ s body and I enjoy the premise that every painting will be so different and present new challenges depending on her features . The female form is delicate but powerful and capable of so much , it deserves to be so inspiring .
How did you realise you wanted to become an artist ?
If you ask my Grandma , she ’ d probably say I could use a pencil before I could talk . However , I never took my artistic abilities seriously until a few years ago when I created a painting to express my grief . It reawakened my passion and I started my Instagram page . Suddenly , I found myself overwhelmed with interest from the public . This really spoke to me and persuaded me to keep going .
How would you describe your process ?
I have a number of processes . I have a constant flow of pet portraits to complete which takes a lot of organising to ensure every customer is satisfied . Artwork outside of this may be inspired by an experience , a feeling or simply because I think it will look pretty ! I take pride in my social media pages , so another process is photographing my work in a way that engages people and hopefully inspires them .
Do you have any artistic heroes ?
I like to surround myself online with other female artists that I can relate to or that I aspire to . They ’ re my heroes . I enjoy the sense of community and women supporting women . It makes me feel like I can do whatever I set my mind to because I watch others do it and achieve great things !
