ellenor ’ s Lights Of Love Service Goes Online
In a year where so many have experienced separation and loss , ellenor are inviting you to be part of their remembrance service – Lights of Love . The hospice ’ s service will be taking place virtually , meaning that anyone with internet access can watch when it is aired on the charity ’ s Facebook and YouTube channels at 6pm on Saturday 12 December .
Ben Cooper , chaplain at ellenor said : “ This has been an incredibly challenging year for everyone in our community . Never has the importance of our own loved ones been more obvious to us than over the last few months . We all draw strength from sharing these moments together , from realising that we are part of a wider family , all going through the same journey .”
The virtual service will include readings and traditional music , as well as a moment of reflection , when all those watching can see the Lights of Love being switched on ellenor ’ s Christmas tree at the hospice . Each light will shine in memory of someone special .
To dedicate a light on our Christmas tree in memory of your loved one , please visit www . ellenor . org / lights-of-love or call the supporter care team on 01322 626509 , and ellenor will also send you a Lights of Love Service Pack , which will include your order of service and candle to light at home .
Volunteer Thanks For Helping Charity ' s Survival
Local charity Brogdale Collections has reached out to thank its staff , volunteers , supporters , visitors , and customers who have all played a role in helping the charity survive through months of the COVID-19 pandemic .
Brogdale is home to the largest collection of temperate fruits in the world and is an essential source of knowledge and information about the nation ’ s fruits . Holding a series of COVID-compliant Heritage Orchard Days enabled visitors to visit the orchards , learn about the fruit and trees and most importantly harvest their own rare and heritage fruit .
Operations manager , Sara Smile says : “ We couldn ’ t have done this without our wonderful volunteers who have played a vital role in ensuring the charity ’ s survival . They have helped tirelessly by picking fruit , pruning trees , weeding gardens and helping with our events . We could not have managed without them . A huge thank you also to the public , our partners , supporters , and visitors who have attended workshops , joined in with our events and purchased our fruit . Because of all these people , Brogdale Collections stands a chance of surviving .”
Anyone wishing to support Brogdale Collections can help by purchasing places on their programme of courses – either for themselves , or as gifts for friends and family . For more details go to www . brogdalecollections . org
