KENT AND EAST SUSSEX RAILWAY RECEIVES LIFELINE GRANT
Independent Americana and country music festival , Black Deer Festival have announced some exciting new additions to their 2021 line-up , including Americana living legend and three-time Grammy Award-winning singer songwriter Lucinda Williams , Drive-By Truckers with their politically charged alt-country and Canadian cowboy Colter Wall .
Alongside the musical program , Black Deer Festival are once again cooking up a storm in their Live Fire Arena . Promising even more mouth-watering delights than were served up in 2019 , Jon Finch and Ben Merrington - founders of Grillstock , the largest authentic BBQ festival outside of the US are back curating the area , pioneering the Americana barbecue scene in the UK ’ s festival fields once again .
The stars of the Live Fire BBQ showcase ; Sam Evans & Shauna Guinn of Hang Fire Kitchen , BBC Food regular Genevieve Taylor , Ready Steady Cook ’ s Romy Gill , and Countrywoodsmoke ’ s Marcus Bawdon , have also been announced .
The three-day festival takes place on 18th-20th June 2021 , returning to the historic Eridge Park , Kent featuring major artists including Wilco , The Waterboys , Robert Plant , and The Dead South .

The Kent and East Sussex Railway ( KESR ) is one of 445 heritage organisations across the country to receive a lifesaving financial boost from the Government thanks to the £ 1.57bn Culture Recovery Fund ; designed to secure the future of Britain ’ s museums , galleries , theatres , independent cinemas , heritage sites , and music venues with emergency grants and loans during the coronavirus pandemic .
KESR received £ 301,500 from the Fund , and together with other measures it is taking , this grant will safeguard the popular heritage railway ’ s future and ensure that its people , most of whom are volunteers , will be able to run its steam trains for the enjoyment and education of visitors young and old .
KESR chairman Simon Marsh said : “ The award of this grant is a testament to the determination of the Kent and East Sussex Railway to weather the pandemic , and a vote of confidence in the measures we have already taken and still plan to take . We will use it wisely to secure our immediate future and ensure that our people will be able to operate heritage steam trains for the enjoyment and education of our visitors in the years to come . “ We are very grateful to the Culture Recovery Fund and pleased to acknowledge the support given by the Government ’ s # HereForCulture movement .”
