REAL TREES
Not a fan of artificial trees ? Fear not , we spoke to Marcus Eyles , the horticultural director at Dobbies Garden Centres ( www . dobbies . com ) about what types of real trees will be the ‘ in ’ thing this season . According to Marcus there are two main types of traditional Christmas trees , the Nordmann Fir and the Fraser Fir .
The Nordmann Fir is the quintessential Christmas tree , with its fresh pine smell , lush green needles and the perfect triangle shape , it makes quite the grand statement and will be an eye-catching addition to the family living room . A Dobbies ’ British-grown Nordmann Fir ‘ has good needle retention and the softer foliage which makes it the ideal option for families with young children or pets .’
The Fraser Fir is slightly narrower than the Nordmann Fir , making it ideal for smaller spaces in your home , perhaps a hallway or even your bedroom - there needs to be a little Christmas magic in every room after all ! The delicious citrus scent that emanates from its dense branches will leave your house smelling fresh and ready for Christmas .
