DISCOVER THE MAGIC OF ‘LIVE’ AT
FOLKESTONE
QUARTERHOUSE
THIS AUTUMN!
KICKING OFF THE AUTUMN SEASON AT FOLKESTONE QUARTERHOUSE, SALT FESTIVAL OF
THE SEA & ENVIRONMENT RETURNS FOR ITS FOURTH YEAR FROM FRIDAY 13TH - SUNDAY
22ND SEPTEMBER, INVITING YOU ON A CREATIVE AND INSPIRING JOURNEY THROUGH THE
LANDSCAPE AND CULTURE OF THE COAST.
Celebrating 10 years of National Theatre Live,
James Corden takes to the stage in the hilarious West
End hit, One Man Two Guvnors , before multi-
award-winning director, Emma Rice, brings her
exuberantly impish vision to life in Wise Children.
You also won’t want to miss Hansard, Concerto/
Enigma Variations/Raymonda , or Noel Coward’s
provocative comedy, Present Laughter.
Sizzling off the hottest Madrid stages, hop on the
Flamenco Express for a healthy dose of raw, heart-
wrenching flamenco, and find out what all the fuss
is about with fuzzy alt-rock quartet Salvation Jayne.
Filled with fiery and soulful acoustic magic, Romany
Diamonds is guaranteed to make your heart thump,
feet tap and hands clap as you are invited into the
secret world of joyous gypsy melodies. And acclaimed
vocalist, Randolph Matthews performs exhilarating
music that confronts the issues of Walter Tull’s heroic
life a century ago.
Catch the latest hit films on the big screen for just
£5 including Jordan Peele’s Us, Bo Burnham’s first
feature film, Eighth Grade , and Olivia Wilde’s
directorial debut, Booksmart. A new addition to
Folkestone Quarterhouse, Doc Club is a monthly
film club devoted to showing documentaries
from mainstream to experimental, historical
and contemporary with a discussion after each
screening. The inaugural screening is the first ever
cinema release of the beloved but unknown 1968
gem, Inquiring Nuns, which sees two nuns touring
Chicago during the Summer of Love asking people:
“Are you happy?”
October is packed with comedy, including stand-up
legend Rob Newman who will be trying out new
material. Paul Foot returns with his show Image
Conscious, Griff Rhys Jones is back with his brand
new full-length show, and Suzi Ruffell turns tragedy
and anxiety into big laughs.
Try something new this autumn and pay-what-you-
decide for theatre shows. Enjoy a classic tale of
classroom crushes and awkward bedroom encounters
in Love Songs, Build a Rocket is a powerful and uplifting
play about teenage pregnancy in a small seaside
town, and New Queers on the Block is a weekend
packed with experimental performances by
LGBTQIA+ artists.
Finally, enjoy a variety of family entertainment
including everybody’s favourite, Mrs H and the Sing-
along Band! Eggs on Legs is a cracking show bursting
with wonder and surprise, and Oxford Playhouse
recount the race between the US and the USSR to
send the first man to the moon in the inventive and
action-packed One Small Step. You’ll not want to miss
a colourful retelling of Hansel & Gretel , or award-
winning dance, humour and spoken word in The
Little Prince. Early bird tickets are also available for
this year’s Christmas show, the magical Once Upon
a Snowflake, packed with shadow puppetry, storytelling
and enchanting songs for all the family.
There is something for everyone this autumn at
Folkestone Quarterhouse!
