The Pig of the Bunch
WELCOME TO RUSTIC, RURAL SOPHISTICATION, EFFORTLESS CHIC AND AN OBSESSIVE
COMMITMENT TO HOMEGROWN AND LOCAL AT THE VERY FIRST OF THE LITTER…
SAMANTHA READY MAKES HERSELF AT HOME AT
THE PIG,
BROCKENHURST
It’s hard to have escaped the furore surrounding the somewhat simple premise
but intriguingly sophisticated delivery of the boutique collection of THE PIG
hotels, which have taken the South East by storm. Not to mention, of course,
most recently and notably with our own Kent addition to the litter which you
can read all about in our October issue!
In order to fully appreciate just what THE PIGs are all about, it seemed like the
natural choice to begin our own experience at THE PIG at Brockenhurst. Not
least as it is easily accessible from the M27; located smack bang in the middle
of the beautiful New Forest making it ideal for family countryside adventures
and only fifteen minutes from another firm ‘pig’ family favourite, Peppa Pig
World at the award-winning Paultons Park. But also, and more importantly, this
is the original PIG, the first born of
THE PIG litter and where the very
first seed (actually literally in the walled
kitchen garden) was planted in THE
PIG vision of a kitchen garden inspired
by food miles and eat local just eight
years ago.
The ‘restaurant with rooms’ concept
totally applies to THE PIG, however
this almost does a disservice to the
painstaking renovation, refurbishment
and interior design project headed by
the remarkable creative eye of Judy
Hutson, wife of joint owner and former
Hotel Du Vin pioneer Robin Hutson,
who has created a series of warm,
welcoming, home-from-home spaces
that encapsulate the informal PIG
approach, but are seemingly
effortlessly elevated to luxe countryside
sophistication levels.
