TOWNSPOTLIGHT SPOTLIGHT ON WYE CONT. THE KINGS HEAD © Mark Lightford Dining Out The Tickled Trout The Tickled Trout is a traditional country pub that sits prettily on the banks of the River Stour. There has been some kind of hostelry on this spot for the past 400 years, and the reasons why are easy to spot; in the summer the views are magnificent, and sitting by the gently bubbling river as you enjoy a cool drink is an experience that is second to none. During the winter, the cosy interior will tempt you in and you certainly won’t want to go. Food on the menu includes some tasty treats such as traditional fish and chips and the ever popular ‘pie night’. THE WIFE OF BATH 64 The Kings Head The Kings Head can be found at the very heart of Wye village. Once a Victorian coaching in, this pub is all about local produce and freshly cooked homemade food. Almost everything on the menu is made in house, and it is all dictated by the seasons. Enjoy delights such as Ripple Farm organic roasted vegetable gratin, Stour Valley venison loin and carrot and ginger syrup sponge. The Wife Of Bath You may already know the name Mark Sargeant from Rocksalt in Folkestone. He also owns The Wife of Bath, as of 2016 (although the restaurant itself has been operating since 1962) so you can be sure that the offerings from the menu are going to be exceptional. Those offerings include baked crab, chilli and Manchego tart, baked cod, cider and saffron broth, mussels and Ortiz anchovies and spiced pineapple tarte tatin with cinnamon ice cream.
