THE DEVONSHIRE CLUB

WHEN SEARCHING FOR AN ULTRA HIGH-END LUXURY STAY IN THE CAPITAL, I WOULD NATURALLY
ALWAYS START MY SEARCH AROUND MAYFAIR AND WIDEN FROM THERE. THAT WAS UNTIL I
FOUND THE DEVONSHIRE CLUB. FOLLOWING A HUGE £25M INVESTMENT, THE DEVONSHIRE
IS STAKING ITS CLAIM AS THE CITY’S HOTTEST NEW MEMBERS’ CLUB, WHICH OFFERS ALL
THE LUXURY AND GLAMOUR OF A WEST END PRIVATE MEMBERS’ CLUB COMBINED WITH THE
STYLE AND PANACHE OF THE EAST END.
I hopped onto Southeastern’s HS1 service from
Ashford International, which got me into Stratford
International in a remarkable 32 minutes – just
enough time to take in the beautiful Kent countryside
before ducking below the Thames and on into
London. Followed by a quick 9-minute tube ride
and 5-minute walk from London Liverpool Street
station, and you have arrived.
The Devonshire Club has 68 bedrooms and suites
and is housed in an old 18th-century former East
India Company warehouse along with its very own

adjoining Georgian townhouse, giving it the history
and character not many boutique hotels can boast
about. Situated amongst the hustle and bustle of the
city in view of The Gherkin building, this really is
in the heart of the City of London.
After we checked into to the hotel with a warm
welcome, we headed to our room on the 3rd floor.
As we entered the room, which was full of light
beaming in from the large framed warehouse-sized
windows, I immediately felt relaxed and at home.
The large bathroom with double size shower cubicle
and free-standing bath – which could had easily
fitted a small rowing team – had a very nice finish
with Carrera marble tiles and countertop.
The luxury rooms come in a variety of sizes, from
compact Club Rooms that are perfect for an
overnight work stay, to interconnecting rooms
designed with families in mind, right up to luxurious
Club Suites, ideal for a special weekend in the heart
of London. Every luxury room has been finished to
an exceptionally high standard – guests can enjoy
super premium Hypnos beds, high-speed Wi-Fi,
large flatscreens with Apple TV, and complimentary
soft drinks and snacks.
