vibrant food markets in Italy and
Provence, and brings the classic
flavours and vivid colours of the
Riviera to life.
The meal starts by choosing from
an extensive menu of small
starters (think tapas), but with
obvious Italian and French
influences. There were so many
choices (16 to be exact), that I’m
sure even the pickiest eater would
find something to suit their tastes.
I enjoyed the Burrata, marinated
aubergine, capers and black
olives; and the potato gnocchi
with sage and Parmesan.
My main course of Scottish aged
beef prime rib tagliata with
taggiasca olives seemed to match
the tone of the hotel’s brand:
beautiful, rich, elegant but casual,
and with a few surprise flavours.
The restaurant experience was
perfectly in tune with the whole
of the hotel, making me feel
important, accentuating life’s
greatest pleasures, but without
the pomp.
the pleasure of resting my weary
head in. There’s even a pillow
menu, just in case one of the
many already donning your bed
aren’t quite right for you.
Refreshed and relaxed, I woke up
to an espresso and some time to
browse through the suite’s library.
Especially impressive was
Bulgari: The Joy of Gems, a 300-
page luxurious behemoth of a
book filled with the legacy and
luxury that is Bulgari – an apt last
activity before having to leave the
perfect hotel behind.

to spend the night in one of the
