SOUTHEASTERN:
THE SMARTEST WAY TO TRAVEL, SAVE & EXPLORE!
We’ ve teamed up with Southeastern to find out the best ways that you can save money on your train tickets. Especially handy throughout autumn and winter, it will help you to make the most of family weekends, school half terms and, of course, all of the upcoming festivities across Kent from the start of panto season right through to the county’ s bounty of incredible Christmas celebrations.
BUY YOUR TICKETS TOGETHER Get the plans out of the group chat! Gather your group of three to nine people and you can save 1 / 3 on off-peak travel. Simply buy your ticket together and the discount will be automatically applied.
TRAVELLING WITH CHILDREN With so many great family destinations to explore across Kent and beyond, you’ ll be pleased to hear that travelling with children is very affordable with Southeastern. On off-peak trains, buy one adult ticket and you can take up to four children aged five to 15 for just £ 1 each. For those under five, tickets are free!
PLANNING IN ADVANCE When it comes to train tickets, the early bird really does catch the worm. Up to 12 weeks before travel, Southeastern begins selling tickets for some trains that are cheaper than tickets you can buy on the day of travel. These are called Advance tickets and are one-way tickets for a specific time train. Advance tickets often get more expensive closer to the date of travel, so it’ s worth booking as early as possible.
PURCHASING A RAILCARD Railcards are an investment that can quickly pay off- sometimes even on the first journey! There’ s a wide variety of railcards available to suit different situations. A great railcard for those living in Kent is the Network Railcard. For just £ 35, it offers 1 / 3 off certain rail fares in London and the South East. The average Network Railcard user saves £ 154 * per year and you can find out more about railcards and the best option for you by visiting southeasternrailway. co. uk / railcards.
BUY DIRECT Why are you paying for booking fees? When you buy directly with Southeastern, you can save on every journey, no matter where and when you are travelling. This applies whether you buy on Southeastern’ s app, website, ticket machines or ticket offices. It’ s a small change to book direct, but the savings quickly add up.
