MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS AT
SPRING GROVE SCHOOL

Spring Grove has a long tradition of excellence in the performing and creative arts, as evidenced by its Artsmark Gold Award, awarded by the Arts Council England in 2023. The school is constantly building on this legacy with many opportunities for pupils to create and perform in art, dance, drama and music, and in an exciting new development for 2027, aspiring musicians are encouraged to apply for music scholarships.
All children at Spring Grove are encouraged to find their musical spark- whether they enjoy singing in a choir, playing the drums in a band, playing in the school orchestra, or performing at one of the many concerts held throughout the year. The varied music curriculum is broad-based with a strong practical approach, allowing children to sing and to try out many different types of instruments.
The director of music, Mr Dray-D’ Anna, is supported by an impressive team of visiting music teachers who offer individual instrumental tuition across a wide range of instruments- from guitar to the French horn. Every year, Year 6 pupils leave Spring Grove with music and drama scholarships to senior independent schools.
The benefits to children of learning a musical instrument are well documented and include improvements to memory, pattern recognition and motor skills, as well as the patience, discipline and perseverance required for practice.
The offer of music scholarships is for children going into Years 3, 4 and 5 in September 2027, and, as well as musical talent, we are looking for that genuine enthusiasm to contribute to and take a leading role in school musical events.
