As a company, you’ re fiercely committed to sustainable felling and high-quality wood. How do you achieve and maintain sustainable practices within your work? Orlestone Oak are always looking at ways to stay as sustainable as possible. We operate a biomass boiler that utilises all our waste timber to run our kilns and heat the building. We also run a thriving firewood business that uses the offcuts from the sawmill for kiln-dried oak firewood.
When finished, how was the project received? Is this often the most rewarding part of the job? When we revisited the project to photograph the final product, the house had been decorated and the flooring could be seen in all its glory. I think the most rewarding part is knowing that the product we supply and often fit will be in situ for decades to come and enjoyed by many generations. It gives a real sense of reward to know our products stand the test of time and improve with age.
