Help TSU’s Enrollment Jump, 6.4%
Texas Southern University is
experiencing one of the largest freshman
classes in recent years. TSU’s enrollment
climbed 6.4% for fall 2014 with 9,262
students. The university’s numbers got a
huge boost by attracting 1,590 freshmen
and 941 transfer students. Enrollment in
both categories is the highest since 2007.
Dr. John Rudley, TSU’s president, credits
the implementation of an aggressive
recruiting strategy for the university’s
success. The strategy included a
presidential bus tour led by Rudley to
24 Texas high schools, partnerships with
area community colleges which allowed a
seamless transition into the university and
more marketing of TSU’s unique degree
programs.
“The key to increasing our enrollment
now and in the future will be to tell
potential students and parents about
our academic programs,” stated Rudley.
“TSU’s unique degree programs will fulfill
careers of the future,” Rudley continued.
