Texas Southern University
National Alumni Association
(TSUNAA)in partnership with
the Texas Southern University
Office of Alumni Relations
chartered an International
Alumni Chapter on February
22, 2015 in Nassau, Bahamas.
Under the leadership
of Julia Askew, TSUNAA
president, and members of
her executive board, those
who will serve as officers of
the chapter include, President
– Terry Paul Archer, acting
chief of protocol, Ministry
of Foreign Affairs and
Immigration; Vice President Andrew Pinder, vice president
of construction, Arawak
Homes; Financial Secretary Louis Moss, sales manager,
MSC Bahamas Ltd.; Treasurer
- Dominic R. Wilson, ministry
of works, Building Inspectors;
Sergeant at Arms – Austin
Grant, gaming inspector; and
Recording Secretary – Olive
Bastian-Patton, manager of
Health and Safety Atlantis.
Approximately 300 Texas
Southern University alumni
live in the Nassau and
Freeport, Bahamas areas.
During this visit, TSU
President Dr. John Rudley
and TSU Regent Marilyn
Rose met with the Minister
of Education, the Honorable

into a Memorandum of

Government of the Bahamas
and Texas Southern
University, to establish
the TSU/Bahamian Merit
Scholarship.
Texas Southern
University
will create six
scholarships—
three in honor of
Regent Rose and
three in honor of
Vice President
of Intercollegiate
Athletics Dr.
Charles McClelland. The
program will support six (6)
in our community and
nationwide has been
recognized and appreciated
by our peers in education,”
said Dr. Michael Adams,
interim chair, Department
of Political Science. “I
am proud of all we do at
Texas Southern University
to manifest “Excellence
in Achievement.” We
definitely thank President
Rudley and the University’s
administration for their support of our
endeavors.”
The 2014/2015 CAA program had more
than 900 entries from across the United
States representing a diverse plethora
of educational facilities from small
community colleges to very large schools
& universities.

by the Minister of Education
who offered to give additional
scholarships.
Tigers defeat Central State 30-16
in Inaugural HBCUX Classic
Awards were issued for entries that
received top marks from judges placing
them in the top 16% of the nation for
educational advertising excellence. Judging
criteria included creativity, layout and
design, functionality, message effectiveness,
production quality and overall appeal.
Representing all areas of
communications, medias, marketing,
advertising and promotions, the
2014/2015 Collegiate Advertising
Awards program contained some of the
best advertising projects arguably in the
world. The Collegiate Advertising Awards
is pleased to recognize the outstanding
creative achievements of Grafikally
Speaking Design Firm.
