These stats show us something simple. Aaron Rodgers knows how to pass the ball. And more importantly he knows how to win. In 2010 Rodgers led the Packers to a Superbowl victory against the Steelers. I remember watching that game and thinking to myself. “How is that guy not the best player in the league”. Of course the next season he won the MVP as the Packers won 15 games.

But the thing that caught my eye in that game was the amount of throws he had or the total yards he threw for. It was how he threw the ball. Not known for being a dual threat quarterback, Rodgers was quick on his feet when moving around in the pocket and when his offensive line gave him time, Rodgers could make any throw on the field.

The one problem Rodgers has had to contend with over his career is being sacked. Since becoming a full time starter in 2008, Rodgers has been sacked an incredible 244 times. That’s a ridiculous 35 times a season. In 2012 he was sacked 51 times throughout the season. Despite that Rodgers has proven himself to be cool and calm under pressure which has led to questions about how good Rodgers good have been with a good offensive line protecting him. It’s no coincidence that Rodgers’ MVP season he was only sacked 36 times. In their Superbowl winning season, Rodgers was only sacked 31 times throughout the season.

With Rodgers being constantly pressured by opposition pass rush on a frequent basis, it is understandable to think that his numbers have suffered and he has been pressured into throwing interceptions. In 2009 and 2012, Rodgers was sacked 101 times. Though he was being pressured constantly and had to deal with the pocket collapsing around him, Rodgers only threw 15 picks over those 2 seasons. To put that into perspective, so far this season Jay Cutler has been sacked 23 times but has thrown 12 interceptions. Cutler has been a highly regarded quarterback at times during his career but even without constant pressure bearing down on him, he turns the ball over.

Yes some credit has to go to the wide receivers for being able to make plays and Rodgers has had some great receivers to throw to over the years (Jordy
