BRONCOS @ RAMS

The (fresh-off-the-Oakland-Raiders-bye) Denver Broncos (7-2) play host to the St. Louis Rams (3-6) this week at Mile High Stadium. The Broncos are coming off a convincing, yet unconvincing, game against the Raiders, whilst the Rams were competitive for the most part in Arizona last week.

We’ll start with the Broncos. Peyton Manning last week had a shocking & surprising start, throwing 2 interceptions & missed an open receiver in the end zone in the first 26 minutes. This was then rectified in a way only Peyton knows how. Throwing for 340 yards & 5 Touchdowns. Raiders or not, pretty damn remarkable! By throwing for a measly 5 touchdowns, Manning extended his record streak to 15 games of throwing multiple touchdowns. On the receiving end, Julius Thomas (pictured right) had another outstanding game, going for 63 yards & 2TDs, thus tying the record for the most touchdown catches through 9 games & also becoming the first tight end in NFL history to record back-to-back 12 Touchdown seasons.

The visiting Rams team had a tough loss in Arizona last week. Up 14-10 with 11:28 to play, Cardinals QB Carson Palmer went off with what has now been confirmed as an ACL injury, & from there, it all went downhill for St. Louis. On 2 straight possessions, the Rams turned the ball over for touchdowns, something that I’m sure will be looked at mid-week. A concerning note for the Rams was that

Austin Davis threw his 4th Pick-6 of the season; all 4 have come in the 4th quarter of games.

St. Louis have allowed the equal 3rd most sacks to their quarterback in the league (30).Whilst Denver linebacker Von Miller has posted a stellar 9 sacks on the season. I simply cannot see St. Louis winning this one. They seem to lift for big games this season, but they are yet to have played an elite-passing QB. Against Manning & co, it will be too tough to stay in the game. Don’t expect another 4th quarter meltdown because they won’t be in the game in the fourth this Sunday.
