NCAA's Academic Success Rate Release Provides Great News for Northeast-10 Conference Membership

Eight Northeast-10 Schools

Receive Division II Presidents'

Award for Academic Excellence

In the third year of the Division II Presidents’ Award for

Academic Excellence program, 27 schools have been honored

for achieving four-year Academic Success Rates of 90 percent or more.

The Northeast-10 Conference paced Division II's 24 conferences in ASR rates, with eight athletic programs posting scores of 90 percent or more. The next highest conference total was three.

Saint Michael’s reported an ASR of 98 percent, while Stonehill came in at 97 percent and Bentley reported 95 percent. Assumption, Adelphi, Saint Anselm, Merrimack and New Haven also reached or surprassed the 90 percent mark.

The Academic Success Rate measures graduation success for Division II schools. As a result of Division II’s unique qualities, the ASR measures the graduation success of virtually all Division II student-athletes, including transfers and those not receiving athletics scholarships, which distinguishes it from Division I’s Graduation Success Rate.

Division II student-athletes graduate at a higher rate than the general student body. The federal rate for the 2006 entering class of

student-athletes was 54 percent, compared to

48 percent for the general student body.
