Semi-Finals at King’s Lynn

Semi-Final #1 of the 2012 World
Championships was at King’s
Lynn's super speedway, and turned
out to be one hell of a semi-final.
All 24 qualifiers raced, so there
were no reserves required,
especially as Nigel Harrhy and
Mike James both raced the Whites
& Yellows race (heat one) which
preceded the Semi-Final. Harrhy
and James had been tractored off
but the damage to both cars was
nothing serious.
As King’s Lynn’s stadium echoed to
the sounds of Emerson, Lake, and
Palmer the flags dropped and the
racing was on.
From the off, it was Finnikin who
was first away, but Wainman jnr
was up the inside and quickly took
the lead. The freshly prepared track
was super-slick and racing was fast
and furious with most drivers going
deep into the bends. Stu Smith jnr
was on it, passing Will Yarrow and
Paul Harrison with ease early on.
Wainman and Finnikin started to
pull away from pack. While Smith
advanced up the field, he fired Dan
Johnson wide - bouncing him off
