Holly Glen - #321 BriSCA F2
UNSUNG HEROINE
You can probably count on one hand how
many sports there are where men and women
race on equal terms. Stock Car racing IS one
of those very special sports where women are
taken as serious competitors and in recent
years, are coming out on top and taking the
Gold title. So, when “Inside Stockcar World”
bumped into Holly Glen at the Formula Two
World Finals at Barford, we decided to
showcase her as our “F2 Unsung Heroine”
Holly says: "I guess the credit goes to my
Mum for this - I've turned out to be just like
her." As Holly puts it “My Mum and Dad raced
bangers in the 80s so back then, I really had
no option but to go along with them. In recent
years, my dad has helped my cousin Steve
Nicol race Ministox and then later on race F2s.
This fact gave my Mum all the leverage she
needed and told my Dad, if he'd helped cousin
Steve, he’s got to help me! It was always on
the cards that I’d race the ovals and after
seeing my cousin Steve, it was agreed that I
could race Ministox.”
Holly raced for four years under the number
621 and in her fianl year won many races
including the Colin Scott and Barry Dale
memorial trophies. These were only topped by
Holly winning both Knockhill and Cowdeneath
points titles and coming second in the Scottish
championships securing her the prestigious
“Driver of the year” award.
As a special treat, it was on Holly's 16th
